About Us

Such quite flowing rivers swell during rains and flood vast tracts of land, bringing misery to the people of the areaRoots of Nav Jagriti may be traced back 1991 when a group of educated and concerned youth formed an informal organisation Jal Jamao Virodhee Sangharsh Committee (committee against water-logging) in Parsa development block of Saran district in Bihar to struggle against the twin problems of floods and water-logging being faced by the people of the area. In a short span of time, this committee systematically highlighted miseries of the people and resolved to solve problems of the suffering people.

But highlighting the problems of the people was a different matter and solving them was an altogether different proposition. Any solution of the problems needed funds and support was possible only within the framework of a formal organisation. This reality prompted them to take a decision in 1991 to form a formal organisation, which they decided to call Nav Jagriti. Two years later in 1993, Nav Jagriti was registered under Indian Societies Registration Act. Since then Nav Jagriti is serving as non-profit, non-political, non-religious and philanthropic organisation.
